Mogadishu(SONNA)-National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, has killed 29 Al-Shabaab militants, including the group’s chief explosives operative in Hiiraan region, during operations in Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan.
NISA said 23 militants were killed, targeting a gathering of fighters near Masaajid Cali Gaduud in Middle Shabelle, where intelligence indicated the group was preparing attacks aimed at destabilizing the region.
In a separate operation in Buq-aqable, Hiiraan, security forces killed six militants, including Abdirahman “Abdi Mudallib,” whom NISA identified as Al-Shabaab’s explosives commander for the region and a key planner of attacks in Bulo-burde and Jalalaksi.
The operations are part of ongoing efforts by Somali security forces and their international partners to degrade Al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities and improve security in central Somalia.
