Hassan Sheikh Mohamud joined hundreds of worshippers for Eid al-Adha prayers at the Islamic Alliance Mosque in Mogadishu on Friday, alongside Prime Minister
Hamza Abdi Barre, cabinet ministers, and other senior government officials.
Following the prayers, the President congratulated the Somali people on the blessed occasion of Eid al-Adha and prayed for lasting peace, prosperity, and development across the country.
President Hassan Sheikh urged citizens to uphold the values of compassion, unity, and mutual support during the holiday, stressing the importance of strengthening social solidarity to achieve a peaceful and prosperous Somalia.
“We should always remind ourselves of the good deeds associated with such occasions. It is important to reinforce our unity, cooperation, and support within society in order to achieve a stable and developed Somalia,” the President said.
He also noted that Somalia’s state-building process has reached a historic stage driven by the will of the Somali people, emphasizing the importance of national unity, social cohesion, and support for vulnerable communities to help the country stand firmly on its feet once again.
Meanwhile, in Baidoa, Speaker of the House of the People Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur joined Southwest State President Abdirashid Jabril and residents for Eid prayers, marking the occasion with calls for peace, unity, and reconciliation.
